What is Hop Sauce?

Hop Sauce Festival is a gathering of craft beer and spice enthusiasts.  As Jetty's largest event, always on the Saturday after Memorial Day, the focus on brew and hot sauce is also paired with local fare, original music, and cultural vendors.  A portion of the proceeds are always earmarked for Jetty's nonprofit arm, the Jetty Rock Foundation, which uses funds for youth initiatives, for those in need, and to enhance the community.  This growing shoulder season event also aims to improve business and tourism during the traditionally slow period after the holiday weekend.

Good Vibes at the Center of it All...

Somewhere in the mix of all the great charity work, good brew and spicy grub (courtesy of our amazing hot sauce vendors), we have to lay down a soundtrack to capture the emotion and spirit of the day.  That's where music comes into the fold.  We aim to deliver a killer lineup you likely will never see again on Long Beach Island --  comprised of new, notable and original music artists who draw their own lines and impact music fans on national and even international levels.  That's why each year we also find a standout local artist to showcase on our Main Stage.   As we grow, we hope our artistic community grows with it.

Shore Point Distributing Co., Inc. is the third title sponsor of Hop Sauce Festival, and we're thankful for that, because they provide a majority of the craft beer! As a partner from day one, Shore Point offers a large variety of brews and also has the ability to change the menu each year.  We add in some smaller, Indy Craft Beers who get a chance to offer their creations under their own tent.  Much like the range of hot sauce flavors, we offer well over 20 different craft brews ranging from summer ales and ciders to stouts and porters.

Let's give credit where credit is due!  Spice It Up opened its doors in 2013, met with a new vendor, and Ed Buckholtz (Owner; Born to Hula) gazed out into a vast field suggesting that it was the perfect place for a hot sauce festival.  Hours later Spice It Up tapped Jetty for their thoughts and Hop Sauce Festival was born!  Vetting hot sauce companies throughout the year, we came to invite those who shared our merit in community.  We level the playing field by offering sauces (and other spicy snacks) of varying, unique flavors and heat levels for mild palates to daring ones.
